Audition Requirements

Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra Auditions

The Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra is an honors ensemble for dedicated and gifted student musicians from Southwest Michigan.  You can hear us in a recent performance here.  We play challenging repertoire in three regular concerts each season, from September to early May, with weekly rehearsals on Sunday afternoons, from 1:30-4:30.  Dress rehearsals usually are on Thursday evenings before performances.  In the 2016-2017 season, our performances will take place on November 6th, 2016; February 12th, 2017; and April 30, 2017. Our 2017-2018 season schedule is not yet available.  Our first rehearsals of the season take place at an overnight camp just outside of Kalamazoo, which we call Tune-up Camp; in the fall of 2017, this will happen on September 9-10, 2017.

Annual auditions for all orchestral instruments will be held on May 19 and 22, 2017. All auditions are scheduled by appointment. You are able to submit an audition application at any time. Please note that we will begin scheduling auditions in April for our May audition dates.

Please complete the following form and you will be contacted about setting up a specific audition time.  If you have questions, you may contact Carol Corey at at or at 269-993-3948. All auditions must be scheduled in advance, by appointment only. Interested students who have a compelling scheduling conflict with our audition date may request an alternate date, which will be slightly earlier than our scheduled date.
